The challenge

Global warming is happening. More floods, snowstorms, tornadoes and other natural disasters are to be expected. Working on climate change by being more sustainable is essential. But what about getting a better handle on its direct consequences? Natural disasters can take millions of lives and trillions of Euros every year. Often help is provided late and resources don't match the needs on the ground due to lack of information. Also the lack of communication makes the situation way harder for victims to handle psychologically.

The solution

The solution is an app made for victims of natural disasters. Through a simple interface they can signal a need for help. Authorities and NGOs see on a clear map the position of the different victims, making it easier to assess the resources needed, as well as where to distribute them. They can also communicate with victims, by showing on a map what zone to avoid or where the closest point of help is. For example, a village surrounded by forest fire: an NGO or local authorities can indicate the habitants a safe way out. (If you think that nobody has smart phones in poor countries, then you are wrong: people in lesser developed countries are way more connected than you can imagine.)
