The challenge

A lot of construction workers are suffering from injuries such as hand-arm vibration syndrome due to vibrations emited by powertools. Both the intensity of the vibration as the duration are an important factor. In practice this means that workers cannot work a full day safely using a powertool. The worker is often inclined to keep working to finish the job. In the long term this can result in loss of sense of touch, or even loss of muscle function in the fingers.
