Fizzy
The challenge
Nowadays 75% of children with cancer survives. This is a great improvement, but especially children between the ages of 2 to 6 years old still face harsh consequences after surviving the disease. The most important problem is that on average, these children have a rehabilitation time of 3 years and suffer permanent damage to their physical capacity in life. They spend a lot of time isolated on a hospital bed, which demotivates them from moving and playing. Exercise and physical activity during the treatment is the way to limit the permanent damage and decrease the rehabilitation time as much as possible. The main goal is to stimulate physical play and movement in children with cancer from 2 to 6 years old, especially in an isolated environment like a hospital room.
The solution
Fizzy is an autonomous robotic ball that proactively stimulates children to play in their natural, unstructured and spontaneous way. It challenges children by wiggling, rolling away, shaking and purring. Moving and playing is important to help children with their rehabilitation and to add to a happier time in the hospital. In the future, we believe we can not only help children with cancer, but every child with their growth and development.
