The challenge

We are tackling the problem of increasing noise pollution in busy cities and its ill effects on the health and quality of the life of its residents. Noise pollution has been regarded as the second biggest health risk by WHO leading to 16,600 cases of premature deaths in Europe last year. Moreover, 32 million people have been reported to suffer annoyance due to traffic/highway/airplane noise. Airports (including Schiphol) are limited to operate at their full capacities due to stricter noise regulations and with increasing air traffic, this problem is going to get worse. People spend 90% of their time indoors and expect a peaceful environment for healthy living and working. However, glass facades being the weakest link in any building allows majority (70%-80%) of the noise to pass through due to their ineffectiveness in stopping the low-medium frequency sounds.

The solution

DeNoize has developed a unique solution to tackle this problem - an active noise cancellation technology that can be integrated inside the frames of a window to offer 80%-90% (in the low-frequency region) additional noise reduction on existing windows, leading to more comfortable and peaceful indoor environments. Furthermore, in real-estate renovation projects, the building facades can now be upgraded with our technology to meet the stricter noise regulations instead of building new ones; saving time and energy while reducing material wastage which is in-line with the sustainable building practices.
